Walks of the 3 chapels

The Three Chapels Trail above Digne-les-Bains: a great idea for a nature walk from the town center (starting from Avenue Paul Martin, yellow markings, loop of about 2 hours at a leisurely pace).

In addition to magnificent panoramas of the town and the surrounding mountains (the 3 Bishoprics massif, the Bells of Barles, Le Cousson), you’ll discover three ancient chapels along this trail.

The first appears after a winding climb through the pine forest: the Notre Dame de Lourdes Chapel (Altitude 670m).

The second, the Saint Vincent Chapel, overlooks a large field (Altitude 800m) and offers a beautiful view of the Three Bishoprics massif.

You’ll discover the third, the La Croix Chapel, of which only the vault remains, as you continue climbing to the highest point of this hike (Altitude 870m).

As you descend back to Digne, you’ll enjoy the view of the Barles bells, clearly visible in the distance. Notice the UNESCO Haute-Provence Geopark building, nestled in its natural setting, above the Bléone River bed.
