Anecdote
The 15th-century bread oven has been preserved but is no longer functional. It now lights up the place as a memory of the past. The oldest text mentioning the castel “Château de la Robine” dates back to 1515 and speaks of the Count of Barras who allows the use of his bread oven but reserves the room above it for himself during his visits.
Description
Ideal to welcome you in small friendly or family tibe; come and discover the” Fournil”, a charming 2-floors appartment restored in the east wing of the castle. The atmosphere here is special and plunges you into a far-off times when the bread oven heated the lord’s bedroom just above and when peasants came to bake in this communal oven, paying a tax to the lord in exchange for a bread of about 5 kg every week or so. The low ceilings of the living rooms with their old beams, the stone walls of the ground floor, and the floor of old stones polished by the passages in the living room all contribute to this feudal ambiance.
The colored walls with lime and ochre give the first floor a Provençal authenticity. This is where the first 2 bedrooms are located, as well as a shower room and a toilet.
On the second floor, the atmosphere is more conducive to pillow fights in this dormitory under the roof with 6 beds. A shower room and a toilet are also located on this floor.
Outside, enjoy large picnic tables under a shelter or in the pleasant paved courtyard of the castle with its centuries-old chestnut trees…
…Depending on your preferences, you can enjoy the stone barbecue for your wood-fired grilling, lounge in the sun or shade in the courtyard framed by its 2 dovecotes, or in the small garden surrounded by greenery and nature. A small playground for children is located there and on the other side of the road, at the foot of the "robines," a volleyball or pétanque court to entertain both young and old.
Various parking spaces are provided for your cars.
The location of this holiday apartment in La Robine-sur-Galabre is ideal for hiking or cycling in the surrounding area, rich in trails in the heart of the UNESCO geopark of Haute-Provence. It is also an excellent base camp for visiting, within a 2-hour drive, remarkable sites of Provence: the Verdon Gorge, the Luberon, the “Baronnies Provençales”, the Mercantour, Marseille, the regional natural park of the Calanques, a portion of the Mediterranean coast, and then returning to sleep in peace.
