Anecdote
The building of the former barn and sheepfold didn’t have many openings except for a large door at the level of the road for bringing in hay, another one at the level of the meadow for the sheepfold, and a few rare small windows to let in some light. Today the building has changed quite a bit, but the old beam serving as a lintel still remains above the French window.
Description
“Les robines” rustic and countryside apartment welcomes you facing the hills of the same name, these ravined hills formed of black marls. Like them it appears a bit austere from the outside, but inside you’ll find a charming lodge, like finding refuge in an old inn after a long day of travel.
With its brick fireplace, its wooden mezzanine and old utensils adorning the entrance, the accommodation asserts its rough and mountainous character. The kitchen, in the same style, open to the dining area, is fully equipped to prepare comforting dishes. On the ground floor there are also the bedroom with a double bed, the bathroom and the toilet, all in simplicity, wood and white walls.
Going up the wooden stairs leads to the mezzanine on the first floor, where a single bed sits, which can be transformated into a confutable sofa according to the number of occupants. On the same landing, the second bedroom with two single beds awaits you for a restful sleep.
Outside, enjoy a garden table and chairs for lunch in the shade or sun loungers for the institutional nap under the protection of the secular walls of the castle…
…By going down a few steps and slipping between the old sheepfold and the castle, you will arrive in the small garden. Depending on your desires, you can enjoy the stone barbecue for your wood-fired grills or relax in the greenery while watching the children play in the small playground. On the other side of the road, at the foot of the “robins”, there is a volleyball or pétanque court to entertain both adults and children.
A parking lot is located right next to your accommodation for parking your vehicle.
The location of this apartment in the small village of La Robine-sur-Galabre is perfect for your motorcycle, bicycle, or walking tours. Located in the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, you will discover the marine past of these places, thanks in particular to the visible ammonite fossils in the surrounding area. It is also an ideal base camp to explore the remarkable sites of Provence: the Verdon Gorges, the Durance Valley, Les Mées, the Mercantour National Park, the Calanques Regional Natural Park, and return in the evening to sleep away from the crowds.
